Full Moon in Cardinal Aries ~ Conjunct Uranus, the Rebel

Dearest Moonlings!

We are in the season of change.  The eclipses in September worked upon us in many varied ways – opening new doors, closing others, bringing about surprises, births, deaths, unions and separations.

Many of us have been pushed outside the box of our comfort zone.  Many of us are exhausted and just looking for some peace and quiet from all this noise, all this insanity, all these layers of challenging issues that we face as individuals and as a global community.

In October, the flavor of Fall is all around us; the daylight fading a little sooner, the air getting chillier, the wind blowing leaves and blowing our thoughts toward coffee shops and scarves and comfort food and warmth.

This year, we have the added anticipation of November’s U.S. presidential election.  Tensions are high, egos are ignited, nerves are shot and patience is thin.  We are faced with one of the most absurd political campaigns in history, and the voices calling for change are murmuring louder and louder, like a deep underground river that is rising and rising, preparing to dismantle every system of injustice.

This month’s Full Moon is exact on Saturday, October 15th, at 9:23 pm PDT.  La Luna reveals her fullness to us in the sign of Aries, the Ram.  The Sun in Libra is highlighting the area in our lives that really strives for balance and harmony, as well as beauty and connection.  Jupiter began his year-long journey in Libra on September 9th, and he is EXPANDING and supporting and enhancing that area of our lives because that is the generous nature of Jupiter.

Aries is Libra’s opposite, and he brings the attention back to the “self” and to accomplishment.  Aries is driven, masculine and a total powerhouse.  He is ruled by Mars, whereas Libra is ruled by Venus.  Aries is the pioneer, the leader, the fire-starter.  Libra seeks relationship, refinement and romance. As Cardinal signs, Libra and Aries are both generators, initiators, trend-setters and very ambitious.

Uranus (retrograde in Aries and conjunct the Full Moon) gives an added dimension of rebellion and wildness to this month’s astrology.  Uranus represents liberation, equality, and the higher mind.  Uranus has no problem using the power of destruction to “level the playing field.”  If it isn’t working well for the good of all, let’s break it apart and build it over again in a new way!  This is the mindset of Uranus.

Uranus remains retrograde in Aries until December 29th of this year, which is also the New Moon.  This feels like a very special introduction to 2017!

When the planet of transcendence and higher mind turns direct at 20° Aries, we might experience some closure or some continuing of things that were happening back in April of this year, when Uranus was last transiting through 20-21° Aries.  Pay attention to this part of your chart; which house does Aries rule for you, and do you have planets or significant aspects around 20° Aries?  You might be experiencing some monumental shifts in personal areas of your life, and we are bound to see this reflected in the larger landscape of global relations and leadership.

Aside from this Saturday’s Full Moon, we can look forward to Venus, the planet of beauty and pleasure, moving into Sagittarius for almost a month of frolicky fun!  Venus enters the sign of the Archer at 12:01 am PDT, this Tuesday October 18th. This is a lovely combination, as Jupiter is the ruler of adventurous Sag, and no one makes Venus shine brighter than the benevolent Jupiter.  The energies of Jupiter and Venus are quite harmonious and bestow good fortune.  Jupiter spending a year in Libra, who is ruled by Venus, is another, longer-term formation of the angelic Venus-Jupiter connection.

May the blessing of this Full Moon bestow you with the courage and the fortitude needed during times of change!  May you hold your loved ones close, and may you also hold your sweet self with compassion for this human journey.  May you allow your own consciousness to be the change so needed in the world.

Blessings and Light!

Namaste.

Full Moon in Aquarius & Venus Kissing Jupiter in Virgo

Big Moon blessings, dear ones!

La Luna’s exact fullness happens this morning (August 18th) at 2:27 am PDT.  Tonight and tomorrow night are perfect for ritual and reflection.  Full Moon energy is opulent, and the positions of the rest of our neighboring planets becomes highlighted when we reach this point in the lunar cycle – for now begins the harvest.

The Sun in Leo with La Luna ripe in Aquarius makes for some interesting dynamics within astrology.  I like to tune in and get quiet ESPECIALLY at the New Moon and the Full Moon.  I’ve noticed that I’m often socializing more at the waxing and waning quarter Moons, when Luna is squaring the Sun.  Maybe that’s just me, but I encourage you to tune in with this Full Moon and see for yourself what the planets are telling you.

Full Moon in Aquarius is creative, quirky and rebellious.  Aquarius is the energy-bearer and the revolutionary.  He facilitates transformation. However, he is also a fixed sign (along with Taurus, Leo and Scorpio).  His determination and vision is kind of like the gold-medal athlete, if you will – because he is fully committed to the universal collective.  Aquarius is quite ego-less, in his essential nature.

The modern ruler of Aquarius is Uranus, the planet of liberation, awakening and higher mind.  The energy of Uranus is constantly helping us dismantle that which no longer serves in order to pave the way for a new paradigm, which is being revealed as we enter the Aquarian Age. (Uranus is currently retrograde in Aries – he goes direct on 12/29/16 at 20 degrees Aries.  The specific energies of the outer planets are particularly helpful in looking at the world stage, as they are in each sign for a very long time, revealing larger mass influence)

The traditional ruler of Aquarius, however, is Saturn – also known as “the disciplinarian.”  Saturn provides structure and containment, rules and regulations, boundaries and limitations.  He is as practical as he is authoritarian.  He also provides real, tangible support. (Saturn is in Sagittarius, and Mars is preparing to meet him for their conjunction on 8/24/16 – my last new moon post goes in depth about their arrangement in the skies: New Moon in Leo and the Dance of Saturn and Mars )

The Aquarian Full Moon lies opposite the Leo Sun, each at 26 degrees in their respective signs.  While the inner (Moon) voice is telling us to create change for the good of all beings, the expressive (Sun) voice is saying shine on, shine on, shine on!  Share your gifts!  Tap into your talents and let them be seen.

On Venus:

The Venus/Jupiter conjunction is coming up on August 27th, while Luna is in her Crone phase.  Venus will meet Jupiter in 27 degrees Virgo at 3:30 pm PDT on that day.  Venus is debilitated in Virgo, but she is exalted by Jupiter all the same.  No other planet can showcase the beauty of Venus like Jupiter can.  You can catch both Venus and Jupiter setting in the Western horizon shortly after 9 pm PDT.

Venus and Jupiter have a beautiful affair in which they dance together roughly every 13 months, so they kind of loop over the signs.  They met up last summer on 8/4/15  at 22 degrees Leo, and after this conjunction they won’t meet again until 11/13/17 when Venus graces over Jupiter in 7 degrees Scorpio.

Venus remains in practical Virgo until August 29th, two days after her conjunction with the benevolent and expansive Jupiter.  On that day, Venus will drop into the gracious sign of Libra, her domicile.  Venus rules Libra and Taurus, but she is exalted in Pisces (who is ruled by Jupiter and Neptune).

Another thing to pay attention to is that between 8/12/16-8/25/16, Jupiter, Mercury and Venus in Virgo (and in that order) will take turns opposing Chiron (the wounded-warrior) in Pisces.  Chiron in our natal chart represents the wound that never heals.  The house and sign he dwells in will give you important information regarding the areas in life to focus on your own healing.  By discovering the places within us that need extra care, we are also discovering priceless keys to compassion toward others.

Virgo is no-nonsense, earthy practicality and meticulous intellect.  Her focus is health, wellness and daily routines.  Let Venus in Virgo and her expanded influence under Jupiter guide you in organizing your self-care right now.  If you can, locate where Virgo is in your natal chart to understand her influence upon your life.  This will expand your awareness of the upcoming Venus/Jupiter conjunction and make it applicable to your life!

As always, many blessings, with this Moon and always.

Life is short and so very precious, let us not waste the time we have been given here.

XO

Gemini New Moon with Venus Conjunction

When the New Moon occurs in Gemini this evening (June 4th) at 8:00pm PDT, the luminous Venus is right next to that Sun/Moon conjunction (all three planets inside of 14 degrees Gemini).  This is a special time.  Not only are we beginning a new lunar cycle and (consciously or unconsciously) setting intentions, we are also literally “lined up” with the planet of love and divine feminine energy.  But we are on our side of the Sun and Venus is on the other, so we can’t directly see her these days.  Right now, Venus is almost cazimi (in the heart of the Sun).  She forms her superior conjunction with the Sun on Monday, and the effect of Venus cazimi can be felt for several days before and after this conjunction – even more so if your Sun, Moon, North Node or rising sign is in Taurus or Libra (both ruled by Venus).

When a planet is cazimi, it is strengthened through a temporary weakening.  It is both illuminated and immobilized.  When absorbed by the light of the Sun, the cazimi planet is no longer operating on its own accord.  There is a surrender that takes place, and a burning away of falsehood much like purification.  Venus cazimi is invisible to us, but illuminated unto herself.  She is feeding upon the Sun’s brightness.

Venus has been hiding from our view since April when she ceased her role as the morning star.  She will return to her other role as the evening star in August (I can’t wait because I am NOT a morning person, but I LOVE staring at Venus).  Right now, she is collecting knowledge and experience as she travels through Gemini.  This is a time for information gathering about things you love and things you desire.  This is a time to explore the edges of your beliefs, including beliefs about your very identity, what you like and what makes you feel good.

This time may also be pointing to questions about purpose.  Is there a wildly wonderful dream that you’ve been sitting on?  Do you want it to become real?  Make a plan of action now!  Let the plan be led by your desire…..and give thanks for that which is manifesting through your desire!  Receive the messages that come.

Venus rolls into Cancer on June 17th at 12:39pm PDT, and at that point there may be some sensitivities that arise in the realm of love, as well as an urge to protect and shield that which is dear to us.  Take the next couple weeks to really ride on the Gemini energy, which is very cerebral, creative, analytical and fun.

The other very interesting thing that is happening with this New Moon is the mutable grand cross that is formed by Moon/Sun/Venus opposing Saturn in Sagittarius, and squaring Jupiter and the North Node in Virgo on one side, and Neptune and the South Node in Pisces on the other.  So, the mutable energies of Gemini, Sagittarius, Virgo and Pisces are creating a powerful cross image.  Mutable means changeable, and willingness to change is exactly what this grand cross is encouraging and maybe even demanding from us.

As always, it is so important to understand your own natal chart in order to interpret planetary happenings for yourself personally.  If you know nothing else, know your rising sign!  Your rising sign determines which sign rules the first house of “your zodiac.”  For me, Gemini rules my first house, and this New Moon/Venus conjunction is happening right between my ascendant and my Lilith.

Gemini loves change the most out of all the signs – change as in variety, diversity and the newest information.  Gemini isn’t here to reinvent the wheel like Aquarius (the revolutionary) – Gemini wants to look at the tapestry of it all, Gemini wants to connect the dots and above all, keep things INTERESTING.  Gemini loves and needs to talk (or write).  Gemini craves communication, the wittier the better.

On Sunday, La Luna is void (making no major aspects) in Gemini until entering Cancer at 8:41pm PDT.  In general, the New Moon is a time to gather ourselves, nurture ourselves, go within and reflect.  We are in a liminal space of transformation, and we are shedding a skin, so to speak.  Planting seeds of intention at this time, with or without ritual, is very powerful and very in tune with the rhythm of Gaia, our Earth.  This is a very receptive time and potentially a vulnerable time.  When Luna is void on Sunday, be advised to hold off on judgment about anything and everything!  There are messages that might be coming through to you.  Let your thoughts die down so you can receive them.  If you hear only silence, what is the silence gifting you?

When Luna rolls into Cancer on Sunday evening, there may be a feeling of contraction, an awareness of your vulnerability and an urge to protect yourself emotionally.  Luna rules Cancer, and she is strong while riding through the sign of her domain.  Cancer is all about nurturing and empathizing, but without a sense of security she will suffer.  She can teach us a lot about self-love if we are willing to listen to her needs for both closeness and boundaries.

Quick Mars reminder:  Mars continues his reverse plunge backwards in Scorpio until June 29th, when he stations direct.  Rapid and decisive change is common with Mars retrograde.  In Scorpio, Mars leaves no stone unturned and no closet unopened.  The house ruled by Scorpio in your natal chart is getting a real tune-up with the planet of action and motivation re-carving his tracks.  However, Mars is not a feel-good planet, so the energy might feel a bit abrasive, competitive or even angry at times.  By honoring the spectrum of emotions within us, and by recognizing emotion simply as energy, the loaded fire of Mars can become a tool for empowerment versus a dangerous cannon.

New Moon
New Moon
Sing me your tune
As I slide invisible
Under your skin
Gemini Moon
Swing Moon
I’ll melt in you soon
Your eyes match my eyes
Your smile matches my grin
*
Into your darkness I ride
Both exquisite and strange
The future untold
All that’s promised is change

Beltane

Happy May Day, Beltane, heart of Spring!

Both the Sun and Venus are snuggled in Taurus (Venus entered the realm of the sensual Bull 2 days ago), and there is a certain full and romantic energy in the air – especially as Venus rides through Taurus.  As ruler of Taurus and Libra, Venus experiences her domicile (her home) in these two signs, so although this is not her sign of exaltation (that would be Pisces), she is free to unfurl as her complete and comfortable self while moving through the signs she rules.  In Taurus, Venus is grounded, she is sure of herself (maybe to the point of being stubborn, but she has every right), and she delights in earthly pleasures.

We often think of earthly pleasures in terms of sex, money, man-made materialism and entertainment.  What if we shift that idea back to the source: the Earth?  Sex is still a given, with ourselves, with another, but really tuning in and noticing the source of our desires or lust, tuning in all the way to that place of connection to our worthiness and the freedom that grants us.  I’m also talking about the pleasure of sunshine and clean air, if we are so lucky.  The pleasure of trees and water and mountains surrounding us.  The pleasure of all the flowers blooming, showing us beauty so graciously, and the cycle we all go through of living and dying.

Sticking your hands in the earth is a beautiful thing to do on this day.  Gardening, lying in the sun, walking barefoot, putting your body against the Earth, some way, somehow.  We need this connection to her.  When we are cut off from her, we become cut off from our own spirit, the one who took birth to be on this planet for whatever reason!

The child who is neglected by his mother may give up on loving himself; it happens.  When we cut ourselves off from Ma Gaia, we sever the love flowing effortlessly from all of her uninterrupted spaces….and we forget we need those spaces, on our planet and in our hearts and minds.

This May Day feels all about the Earth for me, I can hear her calling my name.  As I write with my sliding glass doors open and the sunlight pouring in, I hear cars rushing by outside and I am imagining a space without that sound.

We are so very lucky, we who live in places on Earth where we can access her healing power and healing beauty so easily and so readily.

I am being called by the blue sky, dear reader……I hope you are experiencing much of it today.

May the Fire of Beltane burn bright within your being,

Igniting your passion for living and burning away all that does not serve you.

May the lovely Venus wrap you in her embrace,

More and more as you open up to all the ways of being yourself.

May the union of God and Goddess that the maypole represents

Lead you in a slow dance of union between yourself and the Divine.

There is energy in this ancient, sacred dance

As we dance barefoot upon the earth.

Ode to Venus entering Aquarius

Venus enters Aquarius tonight at 8:17pm PST, joining Mercury and the Sun.  We will have just over 49 hours with all three planets cavorting in the sign of the Water-Bearer/Energy-Bearer, as the Sun will enter Pisces around 9:30pm this Thursday evening.

Venus in Aquarius is bringing me a sense of laughter.  And bubbles like playful sea waves.  She is revolutionary, she is quirky, she is unapologetically herself.  Aquarius pioneers freedom.  What is it inside of us that is waiting to be set free?  There is that magic in all of us, that liberating force, that will shake down all the obstacles, real or imagined.  A freedom that one might imagine in death can, indeed, be felt and even lived.

As we are slowly turning into the Age of Aquarius from the Piscean Age, it is fitting that many humans are rapidly “waking up” and many “awakened” humans are coming into the world.  It makes sense that the kundalini energy lying dormant at the base of the spine of every human is finding more and more opportunity for rising like the sacred snake.

Somewhere I have a card with a picture of Kwan Yin, Goddess of Compassion, robed in white and standing on the back of a giant green serpent.  I think about that image often in yoga class, especially during final breathing.  Awakening Kwan-Yin in my heart chakra, feeling her power riding upon the serpent of kundalini energy.

Aquarius feels like kundalini to me….

Traditionally, Aquarius is ruled by Saturn, fixed, firm and structured.  The Energy-Bearer needs structure and guidance, like the kundalini.

The modern ruler of Aquarius is Uranus, the rock and roll wild child of our solar system.  Uranus is looking for nothing short of transcendence.  That is exactly what an awakened kundalini will bring.

Venus represents love, art, wisdom and the divine feminine.  She exists in all of us and is a supportive energy at all times.  In Aquarius, she will be transiting my 9th House of travel and philosophy.  Where does she affect YOU?
